Hello my friends on the Gibbonski Fishing Network: I'm writing you today as I wanted to share a cool new concept Lindy is putting together. Everyone knows when watching fishing shows often the information can be sometimes vague regarding tips and tactics. Television shows sometimes are also not all that great at being seasonal. You may watch a program about how to catch Walleyes using spinner rigs for example but those tips or tactics could be weeks or months away from being an effective … [Read more...]
Spring Time Crappies – Fishing Minnesota
A Golden Rule for Spring Time Crappies By Sean Colter Does finding the fish consume a better part of your day when on the water? Many anglers I see and talk to seem to play the "Hope Game", meaning they hit the water looking for a group of boats and hope they are catching fish. I have written down one of my golden rules for eliminating inactive water. By using this tactic it may help take the hope game out of your tackle box. Understanding where crappies stage: During ice-out in … [Read more...]

No Early Walleye Opener
The appetite for letting Minnesota's anglers hit the lakes a week earlier for the annual walleye opener seems to be fading at the state Capitol, judging by a hearing Monday. Minnesota senators involved in outdoors issues spoke against shifting the opener from May 12 to May 5 during a hearing where no vote was taken. The proposal could be added, however, to a broader fish and game bill that may get a vote by the full Senate as soon as Tuesday. More From Star Tribune … [Read more...]

Minnesota House OKs Early Fishing Season
Minnesota's fishing season would be moved up a week to May 5 this year under a bill approved Tuesday by the Minnesota House. The Senate still must OK the move, which the DNR says is unprecedented. The season now is set to open May 12. "This is a bonus week of fishing, not a [new] fishing opener," said Rep. David Dill, DFL-Crane Lake, who offered the proposal in an amendment to a large game and fish bill. He said the proposal would only affect the 2012 season, not future seasons, and said … [Read more...]
DNR Spring Egg Take
Now through mid-April, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fisheries staff will be working at lakes and rivers throughout Minnesota on the spring fish egg take to support the state’s 17 hatchery operations. Early ice-out, warming water temperatures and increasing hours of sunlight are signaling fish to begin their annual spawning ritual. Fish traps already are set at a number of historically used sites. DNR fisheries staff is checking them frequently to time optimal egg … [Read more...]

The latest satellite photo of Lake of the Woods, taken this week, shows ice on the big lake breaking up. Lake of the Woods and Rainy Lake near International Falls are among the last lakes in the state to have ice. Meanwhile, walleye fishing continues hot on the Rainy River, and sturgeon fishing is picking up. Here's the report issued Tuesday by Sportsman's Lodge near Baudette: On Monday, the walleye bite was very good, a two man crew were out with one of our guides for just for two … [Read more...]
